A job tracker that keeps your search private
A job search holds a lot about you: salaries, rejections, notes on recruiters, who you're talking to and when. Plenty of job tools now ask to connect to your inbox or send your applications to an AI service. Rolestash is built the other way round: it knows as little about you as it can.
What Rolestash never does
- Never connects to your inbox. Not on any plan.
- Never sends your data to an AI service. Capture and email updates run on plain rules.
- No ads and no analytics, in the extension or on this site.
- Never sells your data.
- Never submits an application for you. Autofill fills fields you can check, and skips demographic questions.
Where your board lives
| Plan | Where your jobs are kept |
|---|---|
| Free | Only in your browser. No account, nothing sent to us. |
| Pro and Advanced, with sync on | In your browser, and a copy in our database in Sydney, Australia, so your other computers stay in step (and, on Advanced, your phone). Deleting your account deletes it. |
An account holds your email address and, if you give them, your name and a profile photo. See the privacy policy for every detail, including how long each thing is kept.
How saving a job works without AI
When you click the icon, Rolestash reads the posting in that tab: first the job details the page publishes for search engines, then a reader written for that site if it's one of the supported job sites, then careful rules for anything left. Fields it isn't sure about are flagged for you to check. On the free plan, nothing leaves your browser.
How email updates work without your inbox
On Advanced you get a private forwarding address and set a filter in Gmail or Outlook to forward job emails to it. Rolestash reads each forwarded reply with plain rules, moves the card when it's sure and suggests the move when it isn't, keeps the extracted update and discards the email. Every change can be undone, and you can stop at any time by deleting the filter.
Questions to ask any job tracker
We've answered them for two popular trackers: Rolestash vs Teal and Rolestash vs Huntr.
- Does it ask for access to your email inbox?
- Are your applications or emails sent to an AI service?
- Which permissions does the extension ask for? Chrome lists them when you install.
- Can you use it without an account?
- Can you export everything, and is anything locked if you stop paying?
- Who runs it, and where is your data stored?
Questions
Does Rolestash use AI?
No. Saving a job and reading forwarded status emails is done by plain rules written for job postings and recruiting emails. Nothing you save is sent to an AI service.
Does Rolestash read my email?
No. It never connects to your inbox. On the Advanced plan you can forward job emails to a private address; Rolestash reads only what you forward, keeps the update it finds and discards the email.
Do I need an account?
No. The free plan works without an account and keeps your board in your browser. An account is only needed for the paid plans' sync, phone access and email updates.
Can I take my data with me?
Yes. Export everything to CSV or JSON at any time, on every plan. If a subscription ends, nothing is deleted or locked.
